According to Music by Michael Giacchino, the composer has recently recorded music for the pilot of the new FOX drama Alcatraz. While Giacchino is scoring the pilot, Andrea Datzman will be writing the music for the rest of the season. Datzman previously co-scored last year’s J.J. Abrams-produced NBC drama Undercovers with Chris Tilton after Giacchino also scored the pilot. Alcatraz is created by Elizabeth Sarnoff (Lost, Deadwood) and stars Sarah Jones as a San Francisco detective involved in a grisly homicide case that takes her to America’s most infamous prison, where her prime suspect becomes an inmate who died more than 30 years before. Jorge Garcia (Lost), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown) are co-starring. Bryan Burk and director Jack Bender (Lost) are producing alongside J.J. Abrams through his Bad Robots production company. The pilot is co-written by Sarnoff, Steven Lilien & Bryan Wynbrandt (Kyle XY) and and Danny Cannon (CSI> Miami) directed the episode. The show is set to premiere in early 2012 on Fox. Check out the First Look trailer of Alcatraz below.
Giacchino has also scored two new Prep & Landing shorts: Tiny’s Big Adventure and Naught Vs. Nice. The composer is currently working on the music for Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol directed by Brad Bird and starring Tom Cruise and Andrew Stanton’s John Carter.
