Trevor Morris has been hired to score the upcoming TV drama pilot The River. The thriller/horror show centers on a family who travels to the deep Amazon to locate and rescue their missing father. The show’s cast includes Bruce Greenwood, Leslie Hope, Joe Anderson and Thomas Kretschmann. The River is created by the Paranormal Activity writer and director Oren Peli, who co-wrote the pilot with Michael Perry (Paranormal Activity 2). The show’s pilot marks the TV directing debut of Jaume Collet-Serra whose thriller Unknown starring Liam Neeson is currently in theaters. He also previously directed the features House of Wax and Orphan. The River is said to be shot in a cinema verite-style, akin to Peli’s Paranormal Activity. The show is produced by ABC Studios and DreamWorks’ TV division. It is expected that Morris will be scoring the show if it gets picked up by ABC for next TV season.
Morris also has another high profile TV project coming up. The period piece The Borgias is revolving around the notorious family in 1492 Italy. Jeremy Irons stars as Rodrigo Borgia, the patriarch of the powerful Renaissance family. In addition, the show’s cast includes cast includes Joanne Whalley, Francois Arnaud, Emanuelle Chriqui, David Oakes, Aidan Alexander and Holliday Grainge. The show is produced by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Interview with a Vampire) who also directed the first two episodes. The show is also produced by Michael Hirst who previously worked with Morris on Showtime’s hit series The Tudors. The Borgias is set to premiere with a two hour installment on April 3, 2011 on Showtime and eight more episodes of the show’s first season will air in the following weeks. Trevor Morris also has a number of feature movies coming up. Beautiful Boy centers around a married couple on the verge of separation when they are hit with the news their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college, before taking his own life. The film directed by Shawn Ku stars Michael Sheen, Maria Bello, Alan Tudyk and Moon Bloodgood. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival. Morris also the action adventure Scorpion King: Rise of the Dead coming up. The film is directed by Roel Reine and stars Victor Webster, Ron Perlman and Billy Zane. The film is a sequel to the 2002 film The Scorpion King starring Dwayne Johnson and centers on the adventures of Mathayus in the wilds of the Northern Tribes in 3000 BC. It is expected that the movie will be released straight to video later this year.
Finally, Morris has also scored the 3D IMAX documentary Tornado Alley. In the movie, filmmaker Sean Casey (Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers) heads out to the birth of a tornado, as well as capture images from within. The documentary is narrated by Bill Paxton and is opening in selected IMAX theaters this month.
