Film Music Reporter has learned that John Swihart is the new composer of the crime comedy Flypaper directed by Rob Minkoff and starring Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd and Jeffrey Tambor. He has taken over scoring duties from Mark Mancina, who was originally attached to score the movie as reported last month. The film will have its premiere on January 28 at the Sundance Film Festival.
Swihart has a number of other projects coming up. Don Roos’ The Other Woman (original title: Love and Other Impossible Pursuits), which the composer scored in 2009 is finally receiving a limited theatrical release on February 4 by IFC Films and was recently released on Video on Demand in the US. The comedy drama starring Natalie Portman, Lisa Kudrow details the story of a woman’s difficult relationship with her stepson. Click here to listen to a few clips from the score. Swihart also has the romantic comedy Losing Control directed by Valerie Weiss coming up. Visit the official movie website for more information on the indie film.
Swihart’s music can also be heard on TV. Apart from composing the music for the hit show How I Met Your Mother (currently in its sixth season), he is scoring the CBS comedy show Mad Love starring Jason Biggs, Sarah Chalke and Judy Greer. The show will premiere on February 21, 2011 on CBS.
