Asche & Spencer have been hired to score the upcoming action biopic Machine Gun Preacher. The movie tells the story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing biker tough guy who found God and became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children who’ve been forced to become soldiers. The movie starring Gerard Butler, Michelle Monaghan and Michael Shannon is directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, The Kite Runner, Quantum of Solace). Machine Gun Preacher marks the third collaboration between the composers and the director, who previously worked together on Monster’s Ball and Stay. Lionsgate is planning a release this September.

I’ve read the page-turning script and I’ve recently met Sam Childers and his family. What an amazing man. I hope Gerard Butler handles the Pennsylvania accent and I believe he will capture the charisma of the character and his myriad dilemmas. Can’t wait to see the film.
