UPDATE 12/06/2010: Check out our new article on Zimmer saying that he is not involved in the new Superman adaptation (yet).
Original posting from 12/02/10:
According to Thompson on Hollywood, Hans Zimmer revealed in a recent interview on Tuesday’s Inception DVD and Blu-Ray release party that he is going to score the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed adaptation of Superman. The movie will be produced by Christopher Nolan and is set for a holiday 2012 release. Zimmer also talked about his thoughts on scoring Superman to NBC San Diego.
Hans Zimmer is also set to start scoring the fourth part in the Pirates of the Caribbean series in January of next year. In Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too. The movie reunites producer Jerry Bruckheimer with cast members Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush and adds the new director Rob Marshall and cast members Ian McShane, Richard Griffiths, Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench. The Walt Disney Pictures movie is set to open on May 20, 2011.
In addition, Zimmer is also set to score the animation sequel Kung Fu Panda 2 with co-composer John Powell coming out on May 27, 2011. As previously reported, Zimmer is also scoring Ron Howard’s The Dilemma, Gore Verbinski’s Rango and Guy Ritchie’s untitled Sherlock Holmes sequel coming out next year and he has already Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises set up to be released in the summer of 2012.
Oh how great 🙂
Zimmer and Nolan are a genious team!
Sad news to me… I don’t like Zimmer and I don’t think he’s the right man to work on SUPERMAN.
wow, watch your tongue, try to listen call of duty modern warfare 2 ost coup de grace, contingency, extraction point and (the best and last) retreat and reveille
and think it again
im a big fan of Zimmer and enjoy most of his work but my only concern, is he spreads himself a little too thin.the remote control team monster takes on a lot of work and despite it being a collaborative effort, its nice to hear some more time devoted work from the composer hired for the job.if he took marginally less on, i think his imaginative standard shown in sherlock holmes would shine a lot more often
COME. ON.
The guy did lion king.
and inception (grammy nominee?!?)
superman’s bound to have some love from him.
