Michael Brook has written the score for the upcoming country-themed drama Country Strong. The movie directed by Shana Feste starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester centers on a rising country-music songwriter (Hedlund) who sparks with a fallen star. Feste previously worked with composer Christophe Beck on her last movie The Greatest. A soundtrack album featuring the songs in the movie has already been released by Sony Music. The Screen Gems movie will get a limited release on December 22 and is planned to receive a wide release on January 7, 2011. Michael Brook also scored the David O. Russell-directed drama The Fighter which has been receiving a lot of early Oscar buzz. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. The Fighter offers a look at the early years of boxer “Irish” Micky Ward and his brother who helped train him before going pro in the mid 1980s. David O. Russell previously worked with such composers as Carter Burwell (Three Kings) and Jon Brion (I Heart Huckabees). No soundtrack album has been announced so far.
