David Newman has been hired to score the upcoming comedy sequel Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son. In the third installment in the series, FBI agent Malcolm Turner and his stepson Trent go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. The film stars Martin Lawrence, Brandon T. Jackson and Faizon Love and is directed by John Whitesell who previously Big Momma’s House 2, Deck the Halls and Malibu’s Most Wanted. David Newman follows composers Richard Gibbs and George S. Clinton who scored the other parts in the series. 20th Century Fox will release the movie on February 18, 2011. To watch the trailer, check out the movie’s official webpage.
David Newman also recently scored the German animation movie Animals United (aka Die Konferenz der Tiere), which has been released in Germany in October. No word yet on if a local distributor will release the 3D movie domestically. A soundtrack album including about 20 minutes of Newman’s score has been released in Germany. Love Brandon T. Jackson singing “Imma Do It Big” on Big Momma’s Soundtrack.
