Film Music Reporter has learned that David Holmes has been hired to score the graphic novel adaptation Red. The movie is directed by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler’s Wife) and stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich and Richard Dreyfuss. The movie centers around former black-ops agent Frank Mose, who reassembles his old team in a last ditch effort to survive when his idyllic life is threatened by a high-tech assassin. David Holmes also has the Steven Soderbergh-directed action thriller Haywire (previously entitled Knockout) coming up. The movie stars Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton and Antonio Banderas. In Haywire, a black ops super soldier seeks payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission. The movie marks Holmes’ first collaboration with director Soderbergh since his work on all movies in the Ocean’s trilogy. Lionsgate is planning a January 2011 release for the movie.
