Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day) is composing the original music for the Amazon pilot The Dark Tower. The show is developed by Glen Mazzara based on Stephen King’s book of the same title and stars Sam Strike, Jasper Pääkkönen, Michael Rooker, Jerome Flynn and Joana Ribeiro. The fantasy drama tells the origin story of Roland Deschain and chronicles how he became a gunslinger and his first encounter with the villainous Man in Black. Mazzara is also executive producing the Media Rights Capital (MRC) production. Stephen Hopkins (Predator 2, 24) is directing the pilot. McCreary has previously collaborated with Mazzara on AMC’s The Walking Dead and A&E’s Damien. Amazon Prime Video is expected to announce soon whether the project will be picked up to series.
McCreary’s other current television projects include Starz’s Outlander, which will return for its fifth season on February 16, 2020, TNT’s Snowpiercer, which is set to debut this spring, Apple TV+’s See, which has recently been renewed for a second season and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will return for its seventh and final season later this year.
