Brian Tyler has been hired to score the upcoming romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Step Up 2: The Streets) and stars Constance Wu, Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Harry Shum Jr. and Awkwafina. The movie is based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same title and follows a Chinese-American economics professor and her boyfriend, who happens to be the heir to a massive fortune. Peter Chiarelli (The Proposal) and Adele Lim (Lethal Weapon) wrote the screenplay. Nina Jacobson (The Hunger Games), Brad Simpson (American Crime Story, Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and John Penotti are producing the project. Tyler has previously collaborated with Chu on last year’s Now You See Me 2. Crazy Rich Asians is currently in post-production and is set to be released in 2018 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Tyler (Fast & Furious series, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3) is coming off scoring this year’s The Mummy, The Fate of the Furious and Power Rangers. He also continues to co-score CBS’ Hawaii Five-O and Scorpion.
