Chris Bacon has revealed in a recent interview with TV Goodness that he is currently scoring the upcoming ABC mini-series When We Rise. The show is created by Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar) and stars Guy Pearce, Mary Louise Parker, Rosie O’Donnell, Michael K. Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Rachel Griffiths, Dylan Walsh, Kevin McHale and Ivory Aquino. The period drama tells the history of the gay rights movement, starting with the Stonewall Riots in 1969. Black is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Larry Mark (Jerry Maguire, I, Robot) and Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Silver Linings Playbook, Big Fish). Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk) is directing the first two episodes and Black, Dee Rees (Bessie, Pariah) and Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing) are directing the other episodes of the 8-part series. When We Rise is set to premiere in early 2017 on ABC.
Bacon whose previous scoring credits include Source Code, Gnomeo & Juliet and NBC’s Smash also continues to score A&E’s Bates Motel, which will return for a fifth season in 2017. A new soundtrack album for the show will be announced soon. He also recently scored the pilot of the comedy The Tick, which just premiered today on Amazon.
