Bear McCreary has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi thriller Colossal. The film is written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) and stars Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis, Dan Stevens, Austin Stowell and Tim Blake Nelson. The movie follows a party girl who discovers a mysterious connection between herself and a giant monster wreaking havoc on the other side of the globe. Nahikari Ipiña, Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep), Zev Foreman (Good Kids), Dominic Rustam (Good Kids), Russell Levine (Tallulah) and Shawn Williamson (Alone in the Dark) are producing the Voltage Pictures and Brightlight Pictures production. Colossal will have its world premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival.
McCreary has previously scored the upcoming thriller Revolt for Voltage Pictures. The film is directed by Joe Miale and stars Lee Pace and Berenice Marlohe. The movie is set in the war-ravaged African countryside and follows an American soldier and a French foreign aid worker who team up to survive an alien onslaught. A release in 2017 is expected.
The composer’s upcoming projects also include the animated feature Animal Crackers, an episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror, as well as new seasons of Starz’s Outlander, AMC’s The Walking Dead, ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Starz’s Black Sails.
