Theodore Shapiro is set to compose the music for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. The film is directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) and stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh, Michael K. Williams and Chris Hemsworth. Stars of the original Ghostbusters, Bill Murray,Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson will also be appearing in the new version. Feig has also written the screenplay with Katie Dippold (The Heat). Amy Pascal is producing the supernatural comedy with Ivan Reitman (Stripes, Kindergarten Cop, Dave) who helmed the original film. Shapiro has previously scored Feig’s last feature Spy starring Melissa McCarthy. The 1984 original Ghostbusters film was scored by Elmer Bernstein, while the 1989 featured music by Randy Edelman. Ghostbusters is set to be released on July 15, 2016 by Sony Pictures.
Shapiro’s other upcoming projects also include Ben Stiller’s Zoolander 2. The composer whose previous credits include The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty also has scored Nancy Meyers’ The Intern, which is opening this weekend, as well as the drama Trumbo, which just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released in theaters this November.
I was hoping they would “reactivate” Randy Edelman who already scored “Ghostbusters 2”, but I can live with Shapiro as well. He seems to be Paul Feig´s regular collaborator…
i wonder if feig cursed him out too
