Hans Zimmer is set to reunite with director Gore Verbinski on the upcoming supernatural horror project A Cure for Wellness. The film stars Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs, Mia Goth and Celia Imrie. The movie follows a worker who is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa soon” and realizes that he’s trapped and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the healthy needs of it patients. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road, Snitch) has written the screenplay. Verbinski is also producing the New Regency production with David Crockett. Zimmer and Verbinski have previously collaborated on The Ring, the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, The Weather Man, Rango and The Lost Ranger. A Cure for Wellness will be released on September 23, 2016 by 20th Century Fox. (via Hans-Zimmer.com)
Zimmer’s upcoming projects also include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which he is co-scoring with Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL), Freeheld, which he co-scored with Johnny Marr, the animated sequel Kung Fu Panda 3, as well as Ron Howard’s Inferno.
In my opinion, is Gore Verbinski is the director who brings the best of Zimmer, even more than Nolan. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Rango, The Lone Ranger, all of them are among his very best.
I think those you mentioned were technically Geoff Zanelli’s work – for the most part.
No. Zanelli only helped arrange the William’s Tell Overture in The Lone Ranger. He composed the Spanish theme in POTC: Stranger Tides. That’s quite minimal contribution.
But Zanelli heavily contributed to Rango. He helped compose three themes, two of them were for the Mayor and Rattlesnake Jake.
Hans Zimmer, Ridley Scott’s collaborator is scoring Gore Verbinski’s “A Cure for Wellness”. That’s all. In 1994, Hans Zimmer composed the Disney animated film “The Lion King” and in 1995, he won an Oscar for the Best Original Score. Hans Zimmer had been worked with a collaboration with your best friend and collaborator Ridley Scott: “Black Rain”, “Thelma & Louise”, “Gladiator”, “Hannibal”, “Black Hawk Down” and “Matchstick Men”.
Gore Verbinski had been worked with composer Alan Silvestri with two films: “Mousehunt” and “The Mexican” and today Gore Verbinski is working with composer Hans Zimmer: “The Ring”, “The Weather Man”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, “The Lone Ranger” and the upcoming Gore Verbinski’s project “A Cure for Wellness”.
Hans Zimmer is a genius.
Remember “The Ring”? This is even darker
