Marcelo Zarvos has signed on to score the upcoming action comedy American Ultra. The film is directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) and stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Topher Grace, Tony Hale, John Leguizamo, Bill Pullman and Walton Goggins. The movie follows a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend is suddenly turned upside down when he finds out that he is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. Max Landis (Chronicle) wrote the screenplay. Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher, Begin Again), Kevin Frakes & Raj Brinder Singh (Laggies), David Alpert (The Walking Dead) and Britton Rizzio are producing the PalmStar/Likely Story/Circle of Confusion production. American Ultra will be released nationwide on August 21, 2015.
As previously reported, Zarvos also has the Stephen King adaptation Cell, the spy thriller Our Kind of Traitor based on the John le Carre novel and the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Choice coming up.
