Nick Urata revealed in a recent interview with Flickreel that he will be reuniting with directors Glenn Ficarra & John Requa on the upcoming comedy Fun House (also known as The Taliban Shuffle). The film stars Tina Fey, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, Nicholas Braun, Christopher Abbott, Sheila Vand, Stephen Peacocke, Evan Jonigkeit and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie is based on Kim Barker’s memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan and recounts her years as a journalist in Afghanistan and Pakistan after arriving in the region in 2002. Robert Carlock (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) has written the screenplay. Fey is also producing the project with Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live, Wayne’s World, Three Amigos) and Ian Bryce (Transformers, Saving Private Ryan, Spider-Man). Urata has previously collaborated with Ficarra and Requa on the features I Love You Phillip Morris, Crazy, Stupid, Love and this year’s Focus. Fun House is expected to be released in 2016 by Paramount Pictures.
Urata also has the thriller Indiscretion coming up. The film is directed by John Stewart Muller and stars Mira Sorvino, Cary Elwes, Christopher Backus and Katherine McNamara. The movie follows a psychiatrist who has an affair with a young sculptor who refuses to let go when she calls off the affair. Muller has also written the screenplay with Laura Boersma. They are both also producing the project with Alexandra Baranska, Kevin Lynch and Tim Rhys. Urata has previously scored Muller’s 2008 feature Fling. Indiscretion is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
