Republic Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. The album features the songs from and inspired by the film by artists including Annie Lennox, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, AWOLNATION, Sia, Jessie Ware, Laura Welsh, Skylar Grey & more. Also included are two tracks from the film’s original score composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, Batman). The soundtrack will be released on February 10, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Fifty Shades of Grey is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and stars Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Marcia Gay Harden, Max Martini, Eloise Mumford, Dylan Neal, Rita Ora and Victor Rasuk. Bad enough that Elfman has to work on this tripe, but they couldn’t even extend him the dignity of a score album.
It’s Elfman, so there will be (at this point we can safely single out certain names in the industry that are more or less guaranteed a score release, no?). It’s not out of the ordinary to market the songs first given the audience they hope to rope in with this dreck.
Well, I´m confident that there will be a score album – sooner or later. Depends on the movie´s success…
