Mark Isham has been hired to score the upcoming drama Blackbird. The film is written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nate Parker, Minnie Driver, Colson “MGK” Baker and Danny Glover. The movie follows an award-winning artist who is primed for superstardom. The pressures of success compel her to nearly end her life until she is saved by a young police officer. Stephanie Allain (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan), Reggie Rock Bythewood, Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter, Limitless) and Amar’e Stoudemire are producing the project. Isham has previously collaborated with the director on the 2008 drama The Secret Lies of Bees starring Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson & Queen Latifah. Blackbird is set to be released on November 14, 2014 by Relativity Media.
Isham also continues to score ABC’s fantasy drama Once Upon a Time, which currently airs every Sunday night and has just been renewed for a fourth season.
