Jónsi & Alex have written the music for the indie coming-of-age drama The Wilderness of James. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Michael Johnson and stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Virginia Madsen, Isabelle Fuhrman, Evan Ross and Danny DeVito. The movie follows a boy dealing with the absence of his father who begins to explore the wilderness of an intoxicating city. Through an infatuating girl and a charismatic stranger, he starts to open his eyes as he’s forced to deal with some hard truths. Johnson has also written the screenplay. Jonathan Schwartz (Like Crazy, Smashed) and Andrea Sperlig (Harsh Times) are producing the project for Super Crispy Enterainment. Jónsi & Alex is a collaboration of Sigur Rós frontman Jonsi and his partner Alex Somers. Jónsi has previously scored Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo in 2011 and is also collaborating with John Powell on the score for How to Train Your Dragon 2. The Wilderness of James will premiere next week at the SXSW Film Festival. No word yet on a distribution deal.
