Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for Gore Verbinski’s upcoming western The Lone Ranger. The album features songs inspired by the film by artists including Ben Kweller, Iggy Pop, Shane MacGowan, Lucinda Williams, The White Buffalo, The Rubens, John Grant, Sara Watkins, Pete Molinari and Gomez. The soundtrack will be released on July 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, a separate album featuring the movie’s score composed by Hans Zimmer will also be released. Since our last update, it has been announced that Intrada Records will release a physical version, while the album will come out digitally by Walt Disney Records. The Lone Ranger produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and starring Armie Hammer in the film’s title role of the masked crime fighter and Johnny Depp as his Native American sidekick from the popular 1950s TV series will be released on July 3, 2012 by Walt Disney Pictures. Is the Zimmer album still coming on June 25th?
I hate those “Inspired by” albums, they are pointless, redundant and a complete waste of money! I see even on the song front, Jack White doesn’t even get a look-in. The Zimmer contribution is still listed for June 25th…we shall see.
