Christophe Beck has been hired to score Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Frozen. The film directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf’s Up) & Jennifer Lee (screenwriter of Wreck-It-Ralph) takes place in a kingdom trapped in eternal winter and follows a young female dreamer who must team up with a daring mountain man, on a journey to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. The movie’s voice cast includes Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Lee has co-written the screenplay with Shane Morris and Peter Del Vecho (The Princess and the Frog) is producing the animated feature with John Lasseter. It has previously been reported that Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Winnie the Pooh) are writing original songs for the film. Beck has previously scored the critically acclaimed Academy Award-nominated animated short Paperman for Disney Animation. Frozen is set to be released on November 27, 2013 by Walt Disney Pictures.
The composer’s other upcoming projects also include Universal Pictures’ supernatural action comedy R.I.P.D. starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Mary Louise-Parker, as well as the comedy The Internship. The film is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as two salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world and talk their way into a coveted internship at Google, along with a battalion of brilliant college students. Rose Byrne and Max Minghella are co-starring. Vaughn has co-written the screenplay with Jared Stern (The Watch) and is also producing the Wild West Picture Show and 21 Laps production. Beck has previously collaborated with the director on such films as Date Night, Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther, Just Married and Big Fat Liar, as well as on a number of films produced by Levy.
