The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this week is the sports comedy drama Dream Horse directed by Euros Lyn and starring Toni Collette, Damian Lewis, Owen Teale, Joanna Page, Anthony O’Donnell, Karl Johnson, Steffan Rhodri, Nicholas Farrell and Sian Phillips. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Woodgates. Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the Australian crime thriller The Dry co-written and directed by Robert Connolly and starring Eric Bana, Genevieve O’Reilly, Keir O’Donnell and John Polson. Peter Raeburn (Woodshock, Nancy, Tell Me Your Secrets, Photograph) has composed the film’s original music. Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the movie opened in Australian theaters. Also opening in select theaters and on VOD is the horror thriller Seance written and directed by Simon Barrett and starring Suki Waterhouse, Madisen Beaty, Ella-Rae Smith, Seamus Patterson, Inanna Sarkis and Marina Stephenson-Kerr. The film’s original music is composed by Sicker Man. A soundtrack album is in the works and will be released by Lakeshore Records. The movie, which follows a group of girls who invite a young woman to a late-night ritual to summon an evil spirit, when one of the girls is killed, is being distributed by RLJE Films and will be available to stream on Shudder later this year.
Opening in select U.S. theaters today is the German drama When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit (Als Hitler das rosa Kaninchen stahl) directed by Caroline Link and starring Riva Krymalowski, Marinus Hohmann, Carla Juri, Justus von Dohnányi, Oliver Masucci and Ursula Werner. Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, The Old Guard, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, Ammonite, Patrick Melrose) has composed the film’s original music. Needlewood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year after the movie opened in German theaters.
