Lorne Balfe has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi movie The Tomorrow War. The film marks the live action directorial debut of Chris McKay and stars Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Keith Powers, Mike Mitchell, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Sam Richardson and J.K. Simmons. The movie follows a man who is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past. David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Don Granger (Jack Reacher), David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight), Jules Daly (The Grey) and Adam Kolbrenner (Prisoners) are producing the Skydance Media production. Balfe has previously collaborated with McKay on the director’s last feature The LEGO Batman Movie and has also scored numerous films for Skydance, including Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Gemini Man, 6 Underground and Terminator Genisys. The Tomorrow War is currently scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on July 23, 2021 by Paramount Pictures.
As previously reported, Balfe’s other upcoming projects include Marvel’s Black Widow, Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible 7 & 8, the animated feature Rumble and the second season of HBO/BBC’s His Dark Materials.
