Skydance Animation has announced today that Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) will be composing the score for the upcoming animated feature Spellbound. He will also be writing original songs with lyricist and frequent collaborated Glenn Slater (Tangled). Former President of Walt Disney Music Chris Montan will serve as executive music producer. The film directed Vicky Jenson (Shrek, Shark Tale) is set in a world of magic where a young girl must break the spell that has split her kingdom in two. Lauren Hynek & Elizabeth Martin (Mulan) and Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King) wrote the screenplay. John Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars) and Holly Edwards are producing the project. No release date has been announced yet for Spellbound.
As previously reported, Menken also has Disney’s upcoming The Little Mermaid live-action movie, the Enchanted sequel Disenchanted and Disney+’s Beauty and the Beast prequel series coming up.
