Variety is reporting that Janelle Monae is contributing two original songs to the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s Lady and the Tramp. In addition, her artist collective Wondaland is also recording a new version of The Siamese Cat Song originally performed by Peggy Lee for the 1955 animated classics. Monae is also part of the voice cast of the movie, which is directed by Charlie Bean and also stars Tessa Thompson, Justin Theroux, Sam Elliott, Ashley Jensen, Kiersey Clemons, Thomas Mann, Benedict Wong and Yvette Nicole Brown. Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book, Christopher Robin) is producing the project. Lady and the Tramp will premiere on Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service, which is set to launch this coming November.
