George Fenton is reteaming with director Ken Loach on the upcoming drama I, Daniel Blake. The film stars Dave Johns in the title role, alongside Hayley Squires. The movie follows a middle aged carpenter who requires state welfare after injuring himself, and is joined by a single mother in a similar scenario. Paul Laverty (The Angel’s Share, Even the Rain) has written the screenplay. Rebecca O’Brien is producing the project for Sixteen Films. Fenton and Loach have previously collaborated on numerous features, including The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Jimmy’s Hall and Route Irish. I, Daniel Blake will have its world premiere next month at the Camnes Film Festival.
Fenton’s other upcoming projects also include Andy Tennant’s Wild Oats starring Shirley MacLaine & Jessica Lange.
