David Robbins is scoring the upcoming HBO original series The Brink. The show is created by Kim and Roberto Benabib and stars Jack Black, the composer’s brother Tim Robbins, Pablo Schreiber, Aasif Mandvi, Maribeth Monroe, Eric Ladin, Esai Morales and Geoff Pierson. The comedy follows the U.S. Secretary of State, a lowly Foreign Service officer and an ace Navy fighter pilot who must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War III. Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven, The Karate Kid, Behind the Candelabra) is producing the project with Roberto Benabib (Weeds) and Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers, Game Change). Robbins whose previous scoring credits include the features Dead Man Walking, Bob Roberts and Cradle Will Rock has also scored the indie comedy Welcome to Me. The film is directed by Shira Piven and stars Kristen Wiig, Wes Bentley, James Marsden, Tim Robbins, Joan Cusack, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Linda Cardellini. The movie follows a woman who wins the lottery, quits her psychiatric meds and buys her own talk show.The comedy premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on May 1, 2015 by Alchemy.
