Rupert Gregson-Williams revealed on Twitter that he will be co-scoring the upcoming HBO drama pilot Virtuoso with Chris Willis. The show is created by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, American Beauty, True Blood) and stars Peter Macdissi, Alex Lawther, Francois Civil, Nico Mirallegro, Lindsay Farris and Iva Babic. The period drama is set in 18th century Vienna and follows a class of musicians from all across Europe at the prestigious Academy of Musical Excellence. Ball is also executive producing the project with singer/songwriter Elton John, David Furnish & Steve Hamilton Shaw (Gnomeo & Juliet, It’s a Boy Girl Thing). Gregson-Williams and Willis are also co-scoring HBO’s hit comedy Veep, which returns for a fourth season this spring. Virtuoso is set to begin production this spring and HBO is expected to announce later this year if the project will be picked up to series.
As previously reported, Gregson-Williams also has the comedy sequel Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 coming up. Willis’ upcoming projects also include the Disney animated series The Lion Guard.
