Deutsche Grammaphon will release the official soundtrack album for the historical drama The Liberator (Libertador). The album features the film’s original music composed by Los Angeles Philharmonic director Gustavo Dudamel and performed by the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra. The project marks the first scoring assignment of Dudamel who consulted with John Williams in preparations for his music. The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Liberator is directed by Alberto Arvelo and stars Edgar Ramirez, Maria Valverde, Danny Huston, Imanol Arias and Gary Lewis. The film tells the story of Simon Bolívar, the legendary Venezuelan military and political leader who helped secure independence from the Spanish empire. The drama premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and was picked up by Cohen Media Group for domestic distribution. No release date has been announced yet.
