Brushfire/Republic Records have released a soundtrack album for the documentary SURFILMUSIC. The album features the film’s original score composed by Jack Johnson & Hermanos Gutiérrez, as well as new versions of the songs Hold On to the Light and Drink the Water. Also included are early 4-track cassette sketches of songs that would populate his early-2000s releases Brushfire Fairytales and On and On. SURFILMUSIC is directed by Emmett Malloy and chronicles Johnson’s evolution from surfer to filmmaker to world-renowned musician. The movie features footage from his early years making surf films with close friends, blended with present-day reflections. The documentary premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will be released in select theaters beginning June 5.
