Composer/actor/comedian Jay McCarrol (The Kid Detective, Hell of a Summer) is reteaming with writer/director Matt Johnson on the upcoming biographical drama Tony. The film is directed by Matt Johnson and stars Dominic Sessa in the title role of Anthony Bourdain who – as a 19-year old – travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life., Emilia Jones, Leo Woodall, Dagmara Dominczyk, Rich Sommers, Stavros Halkias and Antonio Banderas are co-starring.Johnson also co-wrote the screenplay with Matthew Miller (Mile End Kicks), Todd Bartels and Lou Howe (Gabriel). Johnson & Miller are also producing the project with Tim Whit & Trevor White (King Richard, Ingrid Goes West). McCarrol has previously scored the director”s features The Dirties, Operation Avalanche & BlackBerry and co-created, starred in and composed the music for Johnson’s TV show Nirvanna the Band the Show and its feature , which opened in theaters earlier this year. Tony will be released in theaters this August by A24.
