Hannah Peel (Rogue Agent, Scoop, Bring Them Down, Insomnia, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, The Midwich Cuckoos, Silent Roar, The Deceived) is providing the original score for the upcoming British drama Midwinter Break. The film marks the feature debut of theater director Polly Findlay and stars Lesley Manville, Ciarán Hinds and Niahm Cusack. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Bernard and revolves around a retired couple whose trip to Amsterdam stirs up troubled memories from their past. McLaverty also co-wrote the screenplay with Nick Payne (We Live in Time, The Sense of an Ending). Guy Heeley (Cyrano, One Life) and Floor Onrust (Occupied City, Donkey Days) are producing the Netherlands Film Fund, Screen Scotland, Family Affair Films & Shoebox Films production. Midwinter Break will be released in U.S. theaters on February 20, 2026 by Focus Features.
