Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight,  Inception, Gladiator, The Lion King, Dune, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rain Man, Interstellar, Man of Steel) has recently been scoring the upcoming comedy Ella McCay. The film is written and directed by James L. Brooks (Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News) and stars Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kumail Nanjiani, Jack Lowden, Ayo Edebiri, Rebecca Hall, Albert Brooks, Spike Fearn, Julie Kavner, Becky Ann Baker, Joey Brooks and Woody Harrelson. The movie revolves around an idealistic young politician who has to juggle familial issues and a challenging work life while preparing to take over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor. The director is also producing the project with Richard Sakai (Jerry Maguire), Julie Ansell (The Edge of Seventeen, Riding in Cars with Boys) and Jennifer Brooks. Zimmer has previously collaborated with Brooks on such features as As Good As It Gets, I’ll Do Anything, Spanglish & How Do You Know>? and also scored the Brooks-produced The Simpsons Movie and Are You There God? It’s Me. Margaret. Ella McCay will be released in theaters nationwide on December 12, 2025 by 20th Century Studios.
