Volker Bertelmann (Conclave, All Quiet on the Western Front, Dune: Prophecy, Lion, The Amateur, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift) has teamed up with Raffael Seyfried (The Dive, Eternal You, Home) & Ben Winkler (Delicious, Every You Every Me) to compose the music for the upcoming German/Dutch limited series Etty (aka The Girl Who Learned How to Kneel). The show is written and directed by Hagai Levi (The Affair, Scenes from a Marriage) and stars Julia Windischbauer, Sebastian Koch, Leopold Witte, Gijs Naber, Claire Bender and Evgenia Dodina. The 6-part drama tells the true story of Dutch Jewish writer Etty Hillesum in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam, from 1941 until her death in Auschwitz in 1943, and chronicles her spiritual awakening. The project is produced by Les Films du Poisson, Topkapi Films, KomplizenFilm and Quiddity. Etty is premiering today at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and will debut in several European markets in the coming months.
