Singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton and John McCauley (of the rock band Deer Tick) are making their feature scoring debut on the upcoming romantic drama Wish You Were Here. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actress Julia Stiles and stars Isabelle Fuhrman, Mena Massoud, Gabby Kono-Abdy, Jimmy Fails, Jennifer Grey and Kelsey Grammer. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Renée Carlino and revolves around a woman who – after a perfect night with a perfect stranger that ends suddenly the next morning – searches for answers and meaning in her disappointing life until she uncovers a secret that changes everything. Stiles & also co-wrote the screenplay. Stiles is also producing the project with Molly Conners (The Green Inferno, Rules Don’t Apply), Amanda Bowers (Like Father, Butcher’s Crossing), Gabby Kono-Abdy, Rick Dugdale (Zero Contact, About Cherry), Jane Sinisi (Brighton Beach, Coup!) and Siena Oberman (Mainstream, The Good Mother). Wish You Were Here will be released in theaters on January 17 by Lionsgate before coming out on Digital on February 4.
