French-Canadian pianist and neo-classical composer Alexandra Stréliski has written the original score for the upcoming Canadian/Polish historical drama Irena’s Vow. The film is directed by Louise Archambault (Gabrielle, And the Birds Rained Down) and stars Sophie Nélisse, Dougray Scott and Andrzej Seweryn. The movie is set in occupied Poland during World War II and tells the story of a former nurse who risks her own life to shelter a dozen Jewish men and women from the Nazi war machine. Dan Gordon (Wyatt Earp, The Hurricane) wrote the screenplay. Beata Pisula (Amok), Nicholas Tabarrok (The Art of the Steal, Stockholm), Jeff Sackman & Berry Meyerowitz (Dead for a Dollar, Happiness for Beginners) and Tim Ringuette (Niagara) are producing the Darius Films and K&K Selekt production. Stréliski has previously scored the 2016 feature Hold On, the 2021 mini-series Audrey est revenue, as well as several shorts. Irena’s Vow is premiering this Sunday at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in the U.S. by Quiver Distribution.
