Violinist and composer Ezinma has made her television scoring debut on the new HBO original documentary series Angel City. The show is directed by Arlene Nelson (Gutsy) and centers on the groundbreaking Los Angeles-based professional women’s soccer team, Angel City Football Club (ACFC), founded by actress Natalie Portman, venture capitalist Kara Nortman and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman. The 3-parter pulls back the curtain on the team’s origin story through the 2022 inaugural season, and reveals the passion and grit needed to build a franchise from scratch. Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin (Free Solo, The Rescue) are executive producing the MountainA and Little Monster Films production with Anna Barnes (Return to Space, Wild Life), Portman, Sophie Mas and Christine O’Malley (Miss Americana, Revolution Rent), as well as Nancy Abraham & Lisa Heller (McMillions, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark) and Bentley Weiner (Tiger, The Day Sports Stood Still). Ezinma’s previous scoring projects include the Academy Award-nominated short Stranger at the Gate and the feature documentary The Times of Bill Cunningham. Angel City will premiere on May 16, 2023 on HBO and will also be available to stream on (HBO) Max.
