The Cinema Audio Society has announced the nominees for the 62nd Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing. For the past couple of years, scoring mixers have been recognized alongside re-recording, ADR, production and foley mixers. In the Motion Pictures – Live Action category, the scoring mixers honored include Alan Meyerson for Joseph Kosinksi’s F1 (scored by Hans Zimmer), Peter Cobbin & Kirsty Whaley for Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein (music by Alexandre Desplat), Chris Fogel for Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (scored by Max Aruj & Alfie Godfrey) & Ryan Coogler’s Sinners (music by Ludwig Goransson), Graeme Stewart for One Battle After Another (scored by Jonny Greenwood). In the Motion Pictures – Animated category, the nominated scoring mixers are Scott Michael Smith for Pixar’s Elio (scored by Rob Simonsen), Erich Talaba for Sony Pictures Animation’s KPop Demon Hunters (music by Marcelo Zarvos), Sam Okell for DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys 2 (scored by Daniel Pemberton), Shawn Murphy for Nickelodeon Movie’s The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (music by John Debney) and Warren Brown for Walt Disney Studios Animation’s Zootopia 2 (scored by Michael Giacchino). In the Non-Theatrical Motion Picture or Limited Series category, scoring mixer Sam Okell was recognized for his work on the Black Mirror Season 7 episode USS Callister: Into Infinity (scored by Daniel Pemberton) and Michael Pertiff was nominated for the Paramount+ event movie Star Trek: Section 31 (scored by Jeff Russo). In the Television Series – 1 Hour category, Geoff Foster received a nomination for the eighth episode (Who Are You?) of the second season of Disney+’a Andor (scored by Brandon Roberts), Chris Fogel was nominated for the finale episode (Cold Harbor) of the second season of Apple TV’s Severance (music by Theodore Shapiro) and Carlos Remirez earned a nomination for the series finale (The Rightside Up) from Netflix’s Stranger Things (scored by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein). In the Television Series – 1/2 Hour category, composer Carlos Rafael Rivera was nominated for the Season 4 episode I Love LA from HBO Max’s Hacks (scored by himself & David Stal), Alan DeMoss received a nomination for the Season 5 episode LESTR of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building (music by Siddhartha Khosla) and Adrià Serrano was nominated for the eight episode (Golden Globes) of Apple TV’s The Studio (scored by Antonio Sanchez). In the Television Non-Fiction, Variety or Music – Series or Specials category, Bradshaw Leigh received a nomination as score & music mixer and Brian Ruggles & Jay Vicari were nominated as scoring mixers of the HBO 2-part documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes and composer Tyler Strickland earned a nomination scoring mixer of Colin Hanks’ Prime Video documentary John Candy: I Like Me (scored by himself).
