Ariel Marx (Shiva Baby, Dying for Sex, Candy, Sanctuary, A Small Light, A Friend of the Family, Happy Face, The Tale) has composed the original score for the upcoming psychological thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. The film is directed by Michelle Garza Cervera (Huesera: The Bone Woman) and stars Maika Monroe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Raúl Castillo, Mileiah Vega, Martin Starr, Riki Lindhome and Shannon Cochran. The movie is a reimagining of Curtis Hanson’s 1992 feature of the same title (scored by Graeme Revell) and revolves around a nanny who starts to work for a suburban couple, but it soon becomes clear that she’s got a very ulterior motive. Micah Bloomberg (Homecoming) wrote the screenplay based on Amanda Silver’s script for the original film. Michael Schaefer (The Martian, Alien: Covenant), Mike LaRocca (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Extraction) and Ted Field (Cocktail, Three Men and a Baby) are producing the 20th Century Studios production. The Hand That Rocks the Cradle will premiere on October 22 in the U.S. exclusively on Hulu and in most other major international markets on Disney+.
Marx’s other recent upcoming projects include the Apple TV+ series The Last Frontier (to premiere on October 10) and the Hulu limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family (to premiere on October 15).
