Cameron Moody has made his narrative television scoring debut on the upcoming Hulu limited series Washington Black. The show is developed by Selwyn Seyfu Hinds based on Esi Edugyan’s novel of the same name and stars Ernest Kingsley Jr., Sterling K. Brown, Rupert Graves, Edward Bluemel, Iola Evans, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Eddie Karanja and Tom Ellis. The 9-part drama follow the 19th-century odyssey of George Washington “Wash” Black, an eleven-year-old boy born on a Barbados sugar plantation, whose prodigious scientific mind sets him on a path of unexpected destiny. Hinds & Brown are also executive producing the 20th Television production with Jennifer Johnson (Cold Case, Alcatraz), The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner, Wendell & Wild), Lindsay Williams (Blackway) Jeremy Bell & DJ Goldberg (Percy Jackson & the Olympians, The Spiderwick Chronicles), Anthony Hemmingway (Red Tails, Genius: Aretha), as well as directors Wanuri Kahiu (Look Both Ways, Rafiki) and Mo Marable (Woke, Brockmire). Moody’s previous scoring credits include History Channel’s documentary series Kennedy and Patrick Green’s feature documentary Sincerely, Los Angeles. The composer, conductor and trumpeter has also contributed additional music to several recent scores by Michael Abels, including Star Wars: The Acolyte, Nope, The American Society of Magical Negroes and Nightbooks. Washington Black will premiere on July 23 exclusively Hulu.
