James Newberry (Wolfgang, The Lady and the Dale, Barron’s Cove, Enigma) has been hired to score the upcoming comedy drama Is This Thing On?. The film marks Bradley Cooper’s third feature directorial effort following A Star Is Born & Maestro and stars Will Arnett, Laura Dern, Cooper himself, Andra Day, Sean Hayes, Amy Sedaris, Scott Icenogle, Chloe Radcliffe, Jordan Jensen, Peyton Manning, Reggie Conquest, James Tom, Gabe Fazio, Ciarán Hinds, Blake Kane, Christine Ebersole, Derek Gaines, Calvin Knegten and Matt Richards. he movie follows a man facing middle age and an impending divorce as he is seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene while his wife confronts the sacrifices she made for their family, forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form. Cooper & Arnett also co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Chappell (See How They Run). They are also producing the Searchlight Pictures production with Weston Middleton and Kris Thykier (Kick-Ass, Woman in Gold). Is This Thing On? just finished principal photography. Newberry has also recently scored Elegance Bratton’s documentary Move Ya Body: The Birth of House, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date, as well as Suzannah Herbert’s documentary Natchez, which will premiere this June at the Tribeca Film Festival.
