Joel McNeely (A Million Ways to Die in the West, The Orville, Holes, Iron Will, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) has been tapped to score the upcoming reboot of the comedy classic The Naked Gun. The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers) and stars Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, CCH Pounder, Cody Rhodes, Eddie Yu, Liza Koshy and Danny Huston. The movie follows Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. as he follows in his father’s footsteps. Schaffer also co-wrote the screenplay with Dan Gregor & Doug Mand (Dolittle, Pretty Smart). Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy) is producing the project with Erica Huggins (The Dark Tower, Under the Banner of Heaven). Ira Newborn has composed the music for the original trilogy. The Naked Gun will be released in theaters nationwide on August 1 by Paramount Pictures.
