Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, Dickinson, One of Us Is Lying, Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Rosaline, Good Girls, Night Teeth) is scoring the upcoming comedy Idiotka. The film is directed by Nastasya Popov and stars Anna Baryshnikov, Camila Mendes, Julia Fox, Saweetie, Benito Skinner, Owen Thiele, Mark Ivanir, Galina Jovovich, Nerses Stamos and Ilia Volok. The movie is set in West Hollywood’s Russian district and follows a young woman who lives out the American Dream by competing on a reality show. Popov & Mendes are also producing the project with Tess Cohen (Free Money), Rachel Matthews (Griffin in Summer) and Saba Zerehi (The Graduates). Idiotka will premiere next month at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival.
Hulquist’s other recent projects (co-scored with Sofia degli Alessandri) include NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which will premiere next Sunday, February 23, as well as William Bridges’ All of You, which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will debut this year on Apple TV+. He also continues to score AMC’s The Walking Dead: Dead City, which will return for a second season this year.
