Actor/writer Tom Basden has written the original songs for the upcoming British comedy The Ballad of Wallis Island. The movie is directed by James Griffiths (Cuban Fury, A Million Little Things), scored by Adem Ilhan (Avenue 5, In the Loop, The Beautiful Game, The Ones Below, The Ghost of Peter Sellers) and stars Basden himself, Carey Mulligan, Tim Key, Sian Clifford and Akemnji Ndifornyen. The movie follows an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on a remote island and dreams of getting his favorite musicians back together, but his fantasy quickly turns into reality when the bandmates (and former lovers) accept his invitation to play a private show at his home. Basden & Key also co-wrote the screenplay. Rupert Majendie (Brian and Charles) is producing the project. The Ballad of Wallis Island will premiere this month at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters on March 28 by Focus Features.
