MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish/Panamanian animated movie Black Butterflies (Mariposas negras). The album features the film’s original music composed, orchestrated and produced by Diego Navarro (The Photographer of Mauthausen, Dos, Capture the Flag, Passage to Dawn, Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list. Also listen to the composer’s main theme after the jump. Black Butterflies is directed by David Baute and centers on three women who relocate due to climate change and hoping for a better life, but face a wall of bureaucracy, as well as sexual and other forms of exploitation in their new environments. The animated movie premiered at this year’s Annecy Film Festival and just opened in Spanish theaters earlier this month. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
