James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth SenseThe Fugitive, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, SignsThe VillageMaleficent) is set to score the upcoming drama The Lost Bus. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy/Ultimatum, United 93) and stars Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera, Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson and Spencer Watson. The movie is set during the disastrous 2018 Camp Fire that became the deadliest fire in California history and is told through the perspective of heroic bus driver Kevin McKay and school teacher Mary Ludwig who helped navigate a bus full of children through the deadly wildfire. Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown, The Way Back) wrote the screenplay based on Lizzie Johnson’s book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire. Inglesby is also producing the Apple Original Films production with Jamie Lee Curtis for Comet Pictures, Jason Blum (Get Out, Insidious) for Blumhouse and Greg Goodman (X-Men: First Class, Civil War). Howard has previously scored Greengrass’ last feature, News of the World. The Lost Bus is expected to premiere in 2025 on Apple TV+.
