Composer, singer/songwriter and pianist Emily Bear (The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, Dog Gone, The Premise) has recently scored the upcoming comedy drama K-Pops. The film marks the feature directorial debut of and stars the singer himself, alongside Soul Rasheed, Jee Young Han, Jonnie “Dumbfoundead” Park and Yvette Nicole Brown. The movie follows a washed-up drummer from LA who attempts to reinvigorate his career by joining the band for a K-Pop competition show in Seoul and discovers that his long-lost son has the chance to front one of the country’s hottest new groups. Anderson .Paak also co-wrote the screenplay with Khaila Amazan and is producing the project with Park, Greg Silverman (Space Cadet, Pink Skies Ahead), Jon Berg (Elf, Doctor Sleep) and Jaeson Ma. K-Pops will premiere next month at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

Bear has also co-written the original songs for Disney’s Moana 2 (with Abigail Barlow), which will be released in theaters nationwide on November 27.
