Hans Zimmer is set to score the upcoming sports action drama F1. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion) and stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Sarah Niles and Samson Kayo. The movie, which is made in collaboration with Formula 1 and has been shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, follows a former driver who returns to Formula 1 at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid. Ehren Kruger (The Ring, Arlington Road) wrote the screenplay. Kosinski is also producing the project with Jerry Bruckheimer (Armageddon, Pirates of the Caribbean) & Chad Oman (Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F), alongside Pitt, Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slav, Moonlight) for Plan B Entertainment, as well as racing driver Lewis Hamilton for Dawn Apollo Films. Zimmer has previously collaborated with Kosinski on 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. The composer has revealed his involvement at this year’s Austria Grand Prix. F1 is set to be released in theaters nationwide on June 27, 2025 by Warner Bros. Pictures before premiering later in 2025 on Apple TV+.
Also coming up for Zimmer is Steve McQueen’s Blitz and Ron Howard’s Eden.
Jerry, let Kosinski use Trapanese to score one of his films under your production company.
Just hearing one track alone, Spiderhead has a WAY better score than anything from Top Gun Maverick (and I enjoyed the latter very VERY much).
Another F1 project for Hans after Rush? Hopefully the score will have a different approach.
