Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front, Hotel Mumbai, Lion, Adrift, Patrick Melrose, The Old Guard, One Life, Ammonite) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in around 300 theaters this weekend following a release in New York last weekend is the drama Janet Planet written and directed by Annie Baker and starring Julianne Nicholson, Zoe Ziegler, Will Patton, Elias Koteas and Sophie Okonedo. The movie doesn’t feature an original score. Joe Rudge serves as the project’s music supervisor. No soundtrack release is expected. The movie, which is set in rural Western Massachusetts and follows a 11-year-old girl who spends the summer of 1991 at home, enthralled by her own imagination and the attention of her mother, premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and is being released by A24.
Also opening in select theaters today is the drama June Zero written and directed by Jake Paltrow and starring Noam Ovadia, Tzahi Grad, Yoav Levi and Tom Hagi. The film’s original music is composed by Ariel Marx (Sanctuary, Shiva Baby, A Small Light, Candy, The Tale, A Friend of the Family). No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which centers on the the trial, verdict and 1962 execution of Holocaust architect Adolf Eichmann, from the unique perspectives of three distinct figures, premiered at the 2022 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and is being distributed by Cohen Media Group.
Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Netflix next Friday, July 5, is the Japanese animated feature The Imaginary directed by Yoshiyuki Momose and starring Louie Rudge-Buchanan, Evie Kiszel, Hayley Atwell, Kal Penn,Sky Katz, Ruby Barnhill, LeVar Burton, Jane Singer and Jeremy Swift.
