Drag City will release a soundtrack album for the Japanese drama Evil Does Not Exist (Aku wa sonzai shinai). The album features the film’s original music composed by Eiko Ishibashi (Drive My Car, Blade of the Immortal). The soundtrack will be released digitally and on vinyl on June 28. Visit Amazon to pre-order the vinyl edition. Evil Does Not Exist is written and directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi and stars Hitoshi Omika, Ryo Nishikawa, Ayaka Shibutani, Ryuji Kosaka, Hazuki Kikuchi and Hiroyuki Miura. The movie follows a widower who lives a peaceful life with his young daughter in the rural alpine hamlet of Mizubiki, near Tokyo, where they are confronted with a talent agency’s plan to build an opulent glamping site nearby that will have a pernicious impact on the community. The drama, which premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival, just opened in Japanese theaters last weekend and is being released in select U.S. theaters this weekend by Sideshow and Janus Films.
